I'm afraid to say I no longer work for Professional Independent Training Techniques. I can say that the forum was down due to something being up with the database (teething problems I think) and it is all running again now.

I have just read the floor tiling page thingy found here and thought I wonder how many people struggled to set out and lay the tiles after reading it and even more frightening, how many tiles have fell off/ come up after fixing wrong.
I wondered how I go about doing a real write-up/ advice...
Should you go down this route or not is up to you but...
BS says that if the paint isn't compatable with the adhesive it needs to be "machanically removed" (scrape it and sand it and try to get as much of it of as you can) Then assuming the stairs are concrete or brick, you can tile on them...
Sorry to but in again people, I would feel that i was doing wrong if I didn't correct you.
You can tile over wood (direct on tongue and groove boards with 'fastflex' which you would need to prime the floor firstly) or on a minimum of 15mm marine ply using a 2 part flexible class aa adhesive...
