Update. I feel like this product is not intended to be perfect first time (which is what YouTube will have you believe). It took 3 attempts/ light coats but happy with the end result. Plus side is that it's very easy to sand by hand.

The waiting is definitely a frustrating part. I went for this because it can be sanded back and redone until I'm happy with it but does seem like a glorified filler. Though super easy to sand and comes up very smooth.

So connecting these together does make the light come on. I assume that means the live is at the light, not switch as I had previously thought? Lights in other rooms aren't affected. I'm still confused why connecting them all together doesn't make both lights come on?

As per the photos - there isn't a blue sleeved brown wire at either the ceiling or the switch. The electrician wasn't particularly keen on marking wiring unfortunately (even though I asked him several times).

It's not a 2 way - basically, one light is in the bedroom and other one is in the loft, which is accessed from the bedroom.
