Removing ceiling fan and replacing with spotlights

Hello all... Im about to get rid of a horriffic ceiling fan with 3 spotlights attatched, and replace it with a normal set of spotlights. What extra wires will i encounter, (i.e will there be an extra wire to power the motor) and what should i do with it? Many Thanks Nicola
