    Leaking header tank

The middle one of the three pics above is the best I can get. There's literally nothing visible/accessible. If you look where the white limescale mark is on the LH corner of the bit of moulding in the middle, if I follow that up to the corner it seems to be coming from there. It feels 'wrong' to...

    Leaking header tank

I'm filling it now back to just below the assumed split....it's not visible inside, but outside on a corner it feels like the plastic has split. It's no more than a pin prick, but it could have been there for months. The wood under the tank is saturated but feels solid. Should dry out. I'm...

    Leaking header tank

On closer inspection, where the metal re-enforcement bar wasn't fitted properly and the tank bowed out, it looks like there's a tiny split in the plastic. On the pic above there's a limescale stain where I assume the leak was. I've got to DIY it because my missus is off long term sick and we're...

    Leaking header tank

Tank sides are dry as a bone. I've taken the lagging off and there's not a drop on either the tank walls or the plastic lagging coating. Plus, to be fair, we only know about it because it's stained the ceiling below. That's a lot of condensation!

Not that I've noticed John. Why?

    Leaking header tank

OK, so it's 4x2 and tongued and grooved, not ply...but yeah... Drained the tank down to the last inch but there's nothing obvious. Probably wherever the split is was caused by a metal re-inforcing bar being out of place down one side, causing the whole side to bow out. I'm thinking new tank...

Wooden arrangement of ply and 3x2. Going up now. Update in 10 mins.

    Leaking header tank

Afternoon all, The cold water tank in the loft (approximately year 2000, plastic) must be leaking. I can see a few inlets/outlets, none of which have any water around them. The water seems to be coming from underneath, as though the tank has a crack or puncture. No idea how after being in place...

    Identifying pipe/valve use?

Yeah, first job when I turn the heating on for winter. I've also tried balancing the radiators by turning them all off and then sequentially on again. Not worked. I reckon our pump and boiler are man enough too. Mystery to me.

Not a word will pass my lips. :D

    Identifying pipe/valve use?

I did shut the one valve off that did move (right hand side on my picture) with the heating and hot water both off. I've got a dead radiator and I was trying to work out if I could get it going. No open system work though...I guess my fiddling about must have been enough?

    Identifying pipe/valve use?

Thanks pal. Wiggled the left hand of the two valves shown, and it freed up after 7 or 8 goes. There's now warmth in flowing(?) conducting(?) along the two lower pipes to the cylinder...maybe some kind of blockage/air lock release? I guess one of them has hot water from the boiler to heat the...

    Identifying pipe/valve use?

Ay up all. There are 4 valves in my airing cupboard. Two 3/4" on pipes (cold) from/to the loft water tank. Neither turn more than 1/8 of a turn. Presume stuck? I presume these are mains into and out of the header tank? Then one off the base of the H/W cylinder (again, won't turn more than...

    Painting internal doors.

I've done this before and had iffish results - paint them quick and get the occasional run or paint them slower and get brush marks. I was wondering if it's worth taking them off the hinges and painting them flat to stop the runs happening? Or is it just a case of getting the technique right...
