    More Immersion Heater Issues

It's the only 16amp MCB in the CU, all other are 6 or 32 amps. From the looks of it out was on its own circuit, but someone prior to us preening the house has wired up the shower pump to it as well. Will be contacting an electrician, guess just curious to know if there's anything simple...

    More Immersion Heater Issues

As far as I can tell the first 2 immersion heaters the thermostat was knackered, as I was getting 240v into it, just not into the actual heater, and if I bypassed the thermostat the heater worked and heated the water. As far as I can tell the only things that are on the immersion heater circuit...

    More Immersion Heater Issues

So about a month ago we had a new immersion heater fitted, and after the first one just didn't work, nor the second, we finally managed to get one that worked. Hot water was restored and life was good. Until last week. Got up to find the immersion heater MCB (16A) had tripped, result no hot...

    Immersion heater, 2nd duff thermostat?

Left the heater in situ as that seemed to be ok, and wasn't going to start messing about with changing that. Tested new thermostat in car park, and seemed ok. All now installed and we have hot water. Guess the lession here is, just because something is new, doesn't mean it can't be faulty...

    Immersion heater, 2nd duff thermostat?

Yep, well stat in situ, but nothing connected to either side, so functionally the same as just on a bench. Guess it's the just because it's new, doesn't mean it works.

    Immersion heater, 2nd duff thermostat?

Hi, just had a new immersion heater installed after the old one self destructed. Anyway, after a few hours of it being on, no hot water. Measuring between N and the L entry side of the thermostat I get 240V. Thermostat set at the default of 60, measure between N and T/output of thermostat and...

Moving a switched fused spur on kitchen wall

Thanks everyone for your replies. Due to this, and other issues with the design when trying to put a full height cupboard in the kitchen, we're going to scrap that idea so the switched fused spur will stay put.

Moving a switched fused spur on kitchen wall

We're in the process of re-designing the kitchen. At the moment the switched fused spur for the washing machine is on the wall just above the worktop - however as we'd like to put in a full height cupboard there and the switch will need to be moved, as it'll be covered by the side of the...

Retaining Wall in Garden - Brick, Railway Sleeper or Something Else?

Thanks, am off to google mortarless retaining walls. In terms of doing the work myself, I am wanting to do as much as I can - kind of a little cash short but time plenty(ish) at the moment. In terms of going the sleepers route I'd be doing that myself, and brick wise wanting to lay the concrete...
