Wow, thanks a lot. so helpful.
Actually option a) includes 12mm skimmed pbd which I would leave and cover with the 75mm+12mm kingspan/pbd. so probably even better than 13%, and it saves a whole load of time and materials.
Our external walls have 90cm internal stud frame infilled with rockwool, 18mm sterling board, a 40mm gap and a brick skin. It doesn't meet thermal regs for an internal garage to room conversion.
Our architect specified removing the inner plasterboard, putting in foam boards then adding 42mm...
How can I build a 4.5 x 3m timber studio on ground sloping 300mm, with an entrance at lower end flush with interior floor? The back end interior floor level would be 300mm below ground level. The main reason is aesthetic and to keep the roof line below the planning radar.

Also I plan to use some galvanised steel retaining bars heavily bolted to the posts...

Is it enough to bed each 100mm sq post in a concrete base 30x30x30cm with metal 'concrete in' sockets?
Should these foundations be bigger?
Thank you.
Thanks for the tips just recieved. That's a relief to have advice I can trust and saves a load of money on metposts. This is just my 4th question to DIYnot and again has been a brilliant result!

Its against the house and deck Boards will run the 6m way...
Can anyone advise the merits (or not) of using good 12mm plywood and softwood mouldings to make up working painted internal shutters for old sash and case windows in my brother's 19th c. Edinburgh flat so they look pretty correct? I have attached a sketchto show what I mean. I don't have trad...
