    Alarm panel visibility

No entry delay on the PIR John-its instant as soon as it detects. Sounds like it should be ok. I guess there arent many places in the household where you could successfully hide the alarm panel where it wouldnt take more than a minute to find it anyway. Will probably box it into a cupboard...

    Alarm panel visibility

Thanks for the interest John. The panel is a G4 Honeywell. It is the endstation that is visible in the kitchen which im referring to, not the remote keypad. The kitchen is protected by a PIR so the panel cant be accessed without triggering the alarm. I was more thinking that the 'intruder'...

    Aluminium Twin and earth?

Thanks for the added info guys Unfortunetly, whoever installed the new CU (ive been adding some light fittings and testing ring circuits after the rewire guy left the house 90% finished) has utilized this main old twin and earth rather than run in a new one. I will try to size it better...

    Aluminium Twin and earth?

Thanks RF i thought it would be more likelly tinned copper- wasnt aware that this would suggest imperial though, although i did fear it. I will try to measure it tomorrow with a mic or vernier. My main concern would be the adequacy of the cpc but i would also check out the vd and current...

    adaptable box, barrier over terminals

have used an adaptable box to terminate some cables using some din rail and stud terminals. do i have to make a cover for inside the enclosure to cover the terminals? or is the adaptable box cover enough? am sure ive seen a reg regarding this but cant for the life of me remember.

hi spark 123, probably not the most practible no, but definetly the easiest  in all seriousness though it will be a difficult run to where the services enter the building (both in different places)- plenty of drilling and messing about. as with a lot of things though if it must...

    efli and rcd test danger

not strictly a DIY question but it follows a debate we were having at work today.... whats people's opinions and experiences of the danger that could arise from these tests, i.e voltages/current appearing on earthed parts. whats the worst that could happen? is it safe to do so long as you...
