    Rockwool Flexi Slab

Hi all, I need some help with the above product and specifically identifying it as flexi slab rather than RW Slab. To cut a long story short, we ordered some of the flexi slab and the packs that arrived are correctly labelled as flexi slab. However on opening the packs neither my builder or I...

    Plasterboarding New Bathroom

Hi All, Have read through a lot of the threads on plasterboarding bathrooms - thanks for all the top tips from the experts out there :D . I'm just reaching the stage in my new build of plasterboarding the house. I have four bathrooms to do and want to ensure I use the right products in...

    Replacing Old Non Condensing Boiler

Yes she is on benefits so will check out the Warmfront scheme. I thought this would only apply if she owned the property, not just rented it. Thanks for the information.

    Replacing Old Non Condensing Boiler

Yes there is a properly fitted loft ladder. I would probably need to put a rail round the hatch though for safety but this wouldn't be a problem. Hadn't thought about the freezing problem, thanks for that. I could come down into the bathroom waste but hiding the pipe would be a problem...

    Replacing Old Non Condensing Boiler

Thanks for the reply, Yes I'm the landlord! I also know the flue needs to be from the boiler manufacturer, I was just emphasising that the current flue could not be used as the current boiler is non condensing. The flat is directly below the loft space which is self contained for the flat...

    Replacing Old Non Condensing Boiler

Hi All, I have a small rental flat which has a 10 year old non condensing boiler which needs replacing. The boiler is for a small two bedroom flat and is a combi boiler which is what the replacement will be. I'm looking at several options but would appreciate some advice on a few issues...

    Insulation Between Rafters

Not 150mm but have cut 100mm between rafters without problem. If you measure the gap for each cut, use a fine tooth saw and cut at an angle to give a snug fit, it's quite straight forward. :) It certainly saves time rather than cutting two separate layers.

    Insulation Between Rafters

Thanks for the reply. It's habitable space and it's a pitched roof. I will be using insulated plasterboard over the rafters. It will work out cheaper to use one thickness, and easier! Thanks.

    Insulation Between Rafters

Hi All, In the middle of a new build and starting to look at insulating the roof. I can squeeze 150mm of insulation between the rafters but am wondering which method is best. I'll be using foil backed insulation board but have the choice of one single layer of 150mm thick board or two...

    Meter Tails to CU

Good plan. Will contact a few local companies and see how I get on. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. :)

    Meter Tails to CU

Indeed but finding that profile of steel plate could prove difficult.

    Meter Tails to CU

Thanks for that. I had indeed thought of that but wasn't sure whether this would satisfy the 17th Edition as the steel plate wouldn't offer protection from all angles - e.g. someone banging a nail or screw in at an obscure angle! If it would work, I would be happier doing that. I wasn't aware...

    Meter Tails to CU

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes it's not ideal I know but have to work with it. Would it be acceptable to run the 16mm earth cable outside the conduit? I'm guessing not! Could it run along side the steel conduit with galvanised capping? Again I suspect not. Thanks again for the reply.
