Installing shower/bath mixer onto a wall

I need to install a shower/bath mixer onto a wall. As per photo below, I am planning on using a 90° wall plate elbow 15mm x ½, which will support the shower/bath mixer. I am concerned about the weight of the shower/bath mixer, can those wall plates (fixed by 3 screws) handle a decent amount...

Connect PVC waste to cast iron pipe

I agree, I would just like to know which one is suitable from a local merchant such as Screwfix/Toolstation. I have Plumbers' Mate but I think the gap might be too big for that.

Connect PVC waste to cast iron pipe

I need to replace a PVC pipe going into a cast iron pipe, could anyone please let me know the type of mastic / sealant being used to connect both pipes? Thanks!

Replacement Nest Link not working for my Gravity Fed Boiler

Very detailed explanation @stem , thanks for taking the time going through it, I was not aware and useful to know.

Replacement Nest Link not working for my Gravity Fed Boiler

The pipework seems to be as such: Hence the wiring diagram seems correct as the pump is only for CH. Can the HW really circulate through the cylinder coil only using gravity? PS: still think the cylinder stat is missing from the wiring diagram though.

Replacement Nest Link not working for my Gravity Fed Boiler

According to the diagram, is CH is OFF and HW is ON, only the boiler will run, not the pump. Is this normal on such install or am I missing something? Since there is no zone valve and no cylinder stat on the diagram, is there a diagram of the actual pipework somewhere? I never came across such...

Tried everything but luke warm radiators

I had the same issue but on a different type of system. Just sharing in case it might point you to something useful. I could no longer balance the system after an CH engineer changed the pipework/ system from vented to unvented, though with a system boiler rather than a combi boiler. After...

Replacement Nest Link not working for my Gravity Fed Boiler

I would say the heat link is the same as at least 4 years ago, slight design change but functionalities are the same. I changed an old one recently and it was a straight replacement. If you replaced yours, it seems to imply it is not heat link related. You will need to start taking...

Lukewarm central heating on Intergas Rapid 32

To close on this thread, I managed to get the system to heat each radiator properly by simply draining the full system, ie: - I opened the draining valves (I have 2 for each zone) - I opened the bleeding valve on each of the 10 radiators - I opened the bleeding valve on the boiler - I manually...

questions to ask when getting quotes for mains pipe to house replacement

Where is the new pipe going to be installed? Still buried in the kitchen floor? Are you able to access the area through the backwall?

Lukewarm central heating on Intergas Rapid 32

Below is a photo of the only used radiator I installed (everything else was new), it is not very big and even flushed it with the garden hose before installing it: Below is a photo of the water drained through the magnetic filer: Because there was a bit of sludge in the flow CH pipe, I...

Lukewarm central heating on Intergas Rapid 32

The verdict from Gary (the Intergas engineer) is that the issue is due to contaminated water in the system. To be honest I am completely gutted, every single components in my installation are only 10 months old except one single radiator (which I flushed with a garden hose before installing...

Lukewarm central heating on Intergas Rapid 32

The Intergas engineer is coming tomorrow, they believe it might actually be s/w related (ie. a bug). I will update the thread after the engineer's visit.

questions to ask when getting quotes for mains pipe to house replacement

I installed a 25mm MDPE pipe, which I connected to a JG Speedfit MDPE Stop Tap 25 x 22mm. The stopcock converts MDPE to copper, hence this is efficient and cost effective as not many fittings. 25mm is normally the minimum pipe size, 28mm would have been better but I do not think I would have...
