Got an alpha CB50 which has suddenly stopped working. Both hot water and central heating only come on for a few seconds before cutting out only to restart trying again a minute later for the same result. Any ideas. I would like to resolve myself before calling an engineer in. Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the ideas. Unfortunately the consumer unit isn't in the cupboard and it not near an upstairs socket. I like the idea of motion sensor.

I did contemplate the switch only but my 2yr old hasn't got the brainpower to switch things off although he has the brainpower to make a tower to climb on and switch things on :)

A-ha, just taken it apart and see what you mean, very tight in there. Difficult to get wires in.

So on the terminal block in the boiler, on the left hand side of it I just need to add 4 extra wires: live-live, neutral-neutral, 1-1 and 2-3 and remove the link between 1and2. THANKYOU I'll have a go now and be back soon asking how to put out a fire :D
