    Replace Honeywell ST6400C With Nest

Thanks @ericmark. I have (briefly) looked into Wifi TRVs, but as you suggest, the cost put me off. We do have “normal TRVs” and spent some time balancing the radiator input and outputs, along with getting the temperatures of each room about right. The attraction of Nest was more the ability...

    Replace Honeywell ST6400C With Nest

@Chris_W - I’ve not yet purchased the Nest, but you are quite right, I was looking at the Nest E instructions, when I should have looked at the Nest 3rd Gen ones. Kindly, @ericmark posted the right schematic! And thanks for the background information, very interesting, especially about the...

    Replace Honeywell ST6400C With Nest

Thanks again. I’ve had a look at the Honeywell wiring diagram, and this is what I have so far.... Current Honeywell (ignoring L,N & E): 1 - HW Off 2 - CH Off (Not used on my installation) 3 - HW On 4 - CH On One the Nest Heatlink (again, ignoring L,N & E and the 12V supply for a wired...

    Replace Honeywell ST6400C With Nest

Thanks Chris. Yes, I should have said, I only have a single motorised valve for water and heating (under the hot water cylinder), which I think makes it a Y Plan rather than S. I am tempted to try to fit the Nest myself, is there an easy way to know which current wire will map to the Nest?

    Replace Honeywell ST6400C With Nest

Hello all, Now that I’ve had an unvented cylinder fitted, I’m considering having a Google Nest (3rd Generation) thermostat fitted. I’ve read a few threads on here by others who also wanted to replace a Honeywell ST6400C controller (with room thermostat, hot water cylinder thermostat and a heat...

    Unvented Cylinder vs. Combi

I know this is an old topic, but incase (like me) anyone is struggling with the same issue, and to give something back (and say thanks again) this is what I have done: Since installing the new bathrooms, with new thermostatic mixer showers, the water flow from the shower heads (from the old...

    Unvented Cylinder vs. Combi

We have two upstairs bathrooms (1 x family with a bath and 1 x en-suite with only a shower).

    Unvented Cylinder vs. Combi

Thanks, that’s really interesting. As this thread is very much about my hot water performance, I assume a large/oversized Combi boiler will give me the best chance of improved showering? Are Combis smart, in that they throttle back the output? Or do they run at full (36KW, for example) all...

    Unvented Cylinder vs. Combi

Thanks @Bodd. (Again!). As before, changing the gas pipe would not be a big job, as the boiler is close to the meter. I must confess, I just made up the 36KW figure (as one of the larger sizes I found) for example. Just wondered if “bigger was better”?

    Unvented Cylinder vs. Combi

Could I ask the experts on here about a Combi Boilers, as I’d love to know more. Is there much difference between brands? As always, I want to stay with the known brands, but is an Ideal any different to a Baxi, for example? Is there anything I should look out for or avoid? Likewise, is...

    Unvented Cylinder vs. Combi

Thanks Ian. I mentioned before, but I’ve struggled to get anyone to be remotely interested in this, hence, the plea for help on this site. I’ve had multiple visits and quotes, all with differing views on the best installation solution, and then silence from all! Our 2 preferred people...

    Unvented Cylinder vs. Combi

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply in this thread. There is lots of good information, perhaps also for anyone else is struggling with the same decisions. The good news is that I already have a 22mm gas pipe between the gas meter and current boiler, therefore, not needing an...
