Hi,
We've recently had our spare attic room plastered and plasterboarded in places. It previously did get spots of black and white mould at times. We're therefore considering using a mould resistant paint rather than what we regularly use.
Normally we use Johnstone's Covaplus Vinyl Matt but...
If I'm applying more Danish oil to a previously oiled surface (with the same oil), do I need to remove the old oil first or can I just 'top it up' with a new oiling?
Hi there,
I'm looking to sand and re-oil my kitchen worktop. Our kitchen is not massive and the current oiled surface is pretty light - photos attached. It's in fairly good state it's more that the oil has worn away in places, although there are a few black marks around the sink.
I could...
Hi there,
We've had our new bathroom about two and a half years and all of a sudden this evening the toilet cistern started leaking. Not hugely, but a puddle of water formed around the pipe that seems to refill it.
I've attached a photo - I tried tightening a nut on the pipe (red arrow on...
It was mostly a skim coat in that area I'm pretty sure. There were a few darker patches, for sure it wasn't as dry as I would have normally left it if we hadn't been told to paint it.
Not yet. Do you think it's better to try another mist coat first or just wait a week for the plaster to dry further before trying the top coat again? It's a fairly small area where the paint isn't sticking.
Hi were advised to paint the plaster of our new kitchen in advance of the installation starting tomorrow. The plaster has had a week to dry but we were pretty convinced it wasn't fully dry, however on asking we were told to paint it anyway. The painting has gone well apart from two patches where...
This may seem like a silly question, but we're getting some shelving cut from our wooden kitchen worktop material for shelving on the wall. We want these to be ~6-8" deep, and are planning on getting some heavy duty iron brackets to hold them.
What size brackets would you get relative to the...
Hi all,
I have a concrete patch left where tiles previously used to be, in a room that is mostly wooden flooring. I'm trying to decide what to do with it - options I can think of include:
1. Paint it a neutral colour (but will still look out of place)
2. Cover it with a small rug (might look a...
Hi there,
Our local paint shop recommended two Johnstone's trade products for use in our bathroom (https://www.johnstonestrade.com/products):
Durable matt
Acrylic eggshell
Which of these would you go with?
Thanks. In terms of the Batten Lamp Holder do you think this one would do the trick? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PY82PKK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3UHOK2TXTJED4&psc=1
I kind of see what you mean about the shade - it seems quite hard to envisage one that would fit and look good ...
Thanks. So I would need to buy a new Batten Lamp Holder with the missing part and then Google for options for 'Batten Lamp Holder Lamp Shade' to see what the possible options are?
We have the following light fitting in our attic - as you can see we have the wires coming in from a covered rectangular section and a lightbulb coming down from the circular fitting.
We want to replace this but I'm unsure as to whether I can simply buy a lampshade to cover the lightbulb...
