Large stone resin shower tray bedding onto Plywood overboard on floorboards - Tile Adhesive or Cement.

How feasible is it to use this S2 Tile Adhesive - bearing in mind it is standard, not slow, set but is very flexible, so hopefully mitigating some of the potential issues of being a timber floor...

Large stone resin shower tray bedding onto Plywood overboard on floorboards - Tile Adhesive or Cement.

The thing about laying additional ply down is that it kind of negates the point in manufactourers making these low profile trays. I mean, why buy a 25mm low profile shower tray if you are then going to stick that same thickness underneith it? (mine is actually 45mm I believe, but still). Unless...

Large stone resin shower tray bedding onto Plywood overboard on floorboards - Tile Adhesive or Cement.

Hello, I am sure this has been discussed before but I have yet to find a certain avenue on this as there is a lot of conflicting information. Essentually I have a room which will be simple Vinyl flooring (fully tiled walls which are now all jackoboarded ready). I have a 1700x800 stone resin...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

Ah, I have neither staggered studs or soundproof / foam backed plasterboard - studs and outside plasterboard all existing. Inside is going to tile backer and getting tiled. Only thing I can implement is the rockwool... No fans as of yet, rooms both have very large windows with two opening...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

Haha, no it's just a bathroom but with toilet, bath / shower, water tank / airing cupboard backing onto a bedroom I wanted to make the most of the opportunity while the studs are exposed to make it as soundproof as possible. It had nothing at all before so anything is an improvement...!

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

Thanks, yes I have heard that from a few people, unfortunately I am up against it dimensionally really - though this raises another interesting point : I am going to tile the entire inside of the rooms, and have been caught in the 'Cement Board (HardiBoard / BAL) Vs XPS (Jackoboard etc ) type...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

    Interestingly, rockwool appear to do the following batts: Wickes stuff (400mm wide, 1200 long, 50 or 100mm thick) - 35kg/m3 RWA45 - 600 wide, 1200 long, many thicknesses - 45kg/m3 RW3 - as above, 60kg/m3 RW4 - as above, 80kg/m3 RW5 - as above, 100kg/m3 RW6 - as above, 140kg/m3 I assume that...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

Yes, though what is the consensus over using rolls of mineral wool glass fibre loft insulation (which there are many available to me from failed loft top up attempts in the past by family members) manipulated into the studwork Vs the dedicated batts? I assume the rockwool batts are more...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

Hah, yeah I can imagine sand being a bit too eccentric even for me! Double studding is certainly a good idea and one I have seen mentioned before, but most of the studwork is existing so not really viable. There is not really a sound issue I am trying to solve, it's more of a "while I am here I...

That does look pretty much bob on, I have to say...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

I do also have lots of rolls of loft insulation / rock wool but just hate the stuff, like devils candyfloss. I am surprised mattress Foam would be so bad at sound insulation Vs rock wool as they both seem equally dense? Someone I was talking to today was on about drilling small holes once board...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

Yes I am thinking of seeing how flammable it is for interest sake, considering how hot they are on furniture flammability these days I would hope it is fairly inert. I would have though it would do something positive for sound transmission, my main worry would be it outgassing in the wall and...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

It was from very good name brand mattresses so should be pretty good in a fire (as in, not very flammable, not a great fuel!) it was just a cotton cover over the foam when on the mattress also, no fiberglass covers etc. Probably on a par with all the wood that will be around it! No PVC cables on...

Mattress Foam (NOT memory) in stud wall as sound insulation - sensible?

I have a stud wall currently open on one side, bathroom / airing cupboard etc to bedroom. It will have tile backer / MR Plasterboard soon. I also have some large chunks of foam from several mattresses (not memory foam topper, the large support material yellow coloured Polyurethane (?) foam)...

New radiators filled to test for leaks, then drained. Are they now rusting away?

Thanks, that was the kind of reassurance I was after, but I still bought a bottle of X100 this morning and after sorting the tails for another downstairs rad that was going to wait until a room was plastered (I won't fit the rad though), I am going to brim the loop with inhibited water and leave...
