    Combi or Unvented

Hi Can you give some more detail? From what I understand both use the mains to provide pressure and flow. So the unvented cylinder will only put out what goes in. I agree have 150l plus of hot water ready to go is good, but if a combi can output the same isn't that a more efficient way of working?

    Combi or Unvented

What did you go for in the end. Would be keen to understand your real world experience. I am looking at a combi vs unvented. Leaning towards the WB 550cdi. Or the atag q51c Plumber advised me today that both unvented and combi rely on mains pressure. So as I have good pressure (and fairly high...

    RSJ end bearing and padstones

The 152mm beam is going to sit on a 100mm wall. (parallel not perpendicular) This will leave a 52mm overhang (or 26mm on each side). Will building regs require me to build up the wall from the foundations to give the beam the full support or is this ok?

best practice for water system for presure

Great thank you for this. I am going to use plastic 22mm from the stopcock to a tee into the 15mm. What is best as the 15mm is currently copper? Plastic or brass? cheers Kryz

best practice for water system for presure

Thank you for that. save me forking out for 28mm pipe. Is the way I am setting up the best. I have been told that for the best hot water pressure to have no junctions before the combi boiler. Then have the rest of the house feeding for that junction. Is that correct.

best practice for water system for presure

I have a lead pipe supplying my house. I am planning on getting it replace with 25mm MDPE pipe. The plan to keep costs down is to have the stopcock in the garage, and use normal pipe to get the water into the house. My question is, what the the best size pipes to get the water into the...

    RSJ end bearing and padstones

it is a solid wall not a cavity call. I have asked the designer still waiting to hear back. I have read in some places a 100mm end bearing could be ok. Lets hope so.

    RSJ end bearing and padstones

OK but how can you go 150mm past the opening when the wall is 200mm thick. you would have to go into the outer skin which I have been told is a nono. Am i wrong or am I missing something.

    RSJ end bearing and padstones

so if the wall is 100mm then end bearing of 150mm is wrong?

    RSJ end bearing and padstones

OK but my plans state end bearing 150mm. Thats fairly clear. Could the architect have made a mistake?

    RSJ end bearing and padstones

He has specified 150mm deep padstones for one calculation and for the other 150 thick. What does that mean

    RSJ end bearing and padstones

I have been been running into so much trouble regarding taking down a wall and replacing with an RSJ. The plans show my RSJ 254 x 102 x 28 UB grade s275 length 2.9m or 152 x 152 x 30 UB grade s275 Both have been approved. the first was far to tall for us and would hang down a...
