    Thanks yes that’s how I figured it out in the end. if I unplug the built in timer, the heating doesn’t come on so I’ve left it in, with it set to permanent on. Would be nice to fully disable the timer though.

    Ive got it working! Followed the top right diagram here : https://www.geniushub.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/pdf/boiler-dual-wiring-diagrams-all-r2.10.pdf only caveat is I have to set the built-in mechanical timer to perm on. But I think that is normal.

    Many thanks. Unfortunately after unboxing my “combi” hive, inside is a dual channel. I don’t suppose you know the equivalent wiring to the dual receiver? It was purchased as an “open box” so I got quite a hefty discount and could live with a redundant water button.

    I’ve just bought my first place and it has an old ,but working-fine Baxi 80 boiler. It just has a round mechanical timer. No external controls. If I wanted to fit a hive to it do I just unplug the connections from the timer and wire the timer wires like this to the hive receiver. brown to L...
