    Waste pipe sizing and issues

Hello, I’m soon to connect my new shower tray waste pipe, the existing waste is 40mm and as per the attached picture takes bath, sink and shower. When letting the bath out it used to fill the shower a bit, I don’t want this happening with the new one. Do all the pipes need upping to 50mm? Could...

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

The waste is the next job the current pipe is 40mm and takes the bath then sink then shower then to the soil stack outside. We had the issues when a big bath was let out some water backed up into the shower tray not a lot but enough to worry. As I’m probably going to cut a 1m section of waste...

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

Yeh I ended up running the tape in a C shape in the undercut and painting over the lot, ended up tanking and lapping the tape up the extra gap around the two sides, so it’s sort of sitting in a tanked bowl. I will tile the gap eventually.

Thanks for the help this has been a bit of a pig of a job but I think it now looks like it was always meant to be there, the level with the existing tile is almost spot on.

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

Bought the connect2 and it’s in. Not got the waste done or glass yet but very happy to have the tray in. I faced off the back edge of the undercut with 6mm cement board as it was just to rough then taped and tanked the lot. Then used tile adhesive to stick it down with Dow in the undercut with...

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

Thanks. Yeh that might work I have sent Kudos a technical enquiry form from their website for the measurement edge of tray to edges of the fitted trap just to be sure. Me and the Mrs spent ages looking for trays yesterday and didn’t come across that one. It’s 5mm slimmer than the mira so should...

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

Got some time managed to cut back the edges to create the undercut and get the cement board cut and dry fitted. Then realised I had screwed up where the waste is landing on a joist I thought I had checked and was aware of but got it wrong now the tray I wanted to use (mira flight low profile...

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

Hello thanks for all the help with this. Boards screws and adhesive arrive tomorrow. See picture of edge I’m left with. I’m planning on cutting back the plasterboard and chipboard back so it’s flush with the timber behind. That gives me about a 40mm recess for the shower to sit in. Do I...

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

I think has been a few showers in here under the previous owners and they seemed to have leaks in different places. I’ve bought a mira flight low profile so that’s 40 mm. I did think shall I not build it all the way up wasn’t sure if it was an option? Anything that reduces the tile undercut...

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

Rip out took me a lot longer than hoped due to other projects. You can see the water damage and now I’m left with 65mm to get back to finished floor level.

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

Yes to build up I want the shower sitting as it should with the tiles but the tiles are thick and they have been laid on ply on top of the chipboard so the floor height is way high compared to joist level. Same old story everywhere in this house no rip out just lay new on top of old! What...

Replacing tiled shower floor with shower tray

Thanks for the above. Short update. Rip out is on going not had much time to get on with it and it’s a pain to get out. Quick question I’m planning on using 22mm no more ply, any idea which merchants stock it tried the usual local ones and no one has it on the shelf. Does everyone buy it...
