Yep, I've read the manual and looked at the diagrams a dozen times - the two pipes just don't connect in any way. The two just don't fit into one another, so I've got to be missing something...

The screw-on connection is there but there is nothing for it to screw onto. There's certainly no metal clip holding any connecting part on the right hand valve so I guess this must be what I'm missing...
