Regarding putting on a mist coat over the plaster, thought I had white matt but turns out it's silk, however I do have a tin of matt but not white. Is it best to use the matt or can I get away with the silk.

It's paint for the most part, plasterboard where I went a bit rough with the scraper. Going to fill in the plasterboard bits, sand ituse Peel Stop to prime then mist coat and repaint and hopefully that'll work. Unlees you guys could suggest something else.

Take tension off the spring via rods/grips
Do I tighten grub screws to stop spring springing back to original postition
Realign cable.
Restension spring and retighten grub screws.

Haven't got round to doing it as yet, but out of curiosity, why lock the spring in place when i'm not touching it. Does loosening the cog not have anything to do with the spring which is about 1mtr from the cog?
So watched a few videos and they say lock with mole grips but with different doors to mine, then seen this video with same make (no windows on mine though) with same spring and cog layout. Guy in the video doesn't use mole grips to secure it though. Will give it a go in a few weeks when i'm off...
