Hotpoint WMF740 Washing Machine tripping RCD

I got an engineer out to take a look. It was the mains filter which needed replacing. All working now. Thanks.

Please identify my boiler noise (sound recording included)

Realised I'd never updated this. The 3rd engineer to take a look at it wasn't sure either but he did two things before he left. 1) Banged the burner to loosen up any debris (last engineer had taken it out and cleaned it though) 2) Made sure the front casing was put back on tight...

Hotpoint WMF740 Washing Machine tripping RCD

Saturday night all the sockets in the house died as the RCD had tripped. Tracked it down to the washing machine although it wasn't running at the time but was plugged into the mains so running in standby. Tried different sockets, changed the fuse etc so definitely the washing machine...

Please identify my boiler noise (sound recording included)

Thanks for the advice. This is all done through Scottish Power (free boiler care) so I'll have to wait for them to come fit the fan and i'll pass on the info to the engineer (assuming the fan isn't causing it) I was able to demonstrate the noise pretty clearly while the engineer was there and...

Please identify my boiler noise (sound recording included)

Just an update. Boiler engineer had a look on Tuesday but could't identify the problem. He checked the flue and the boiler for leaks as he was fairly sure that the noise would be caused by a bad air/gas mixture but couldn't find anything. Only thing he noticed was the fan was a bit noisy and...

Please identify my boiler noise (sound recording included)

Thanks for the reply. I have 2 half sized, 4 single, 2 double and a towel radiator. I'm covered by Scottish Power so I've booked an engineer for next week to take a look. Will update when they've fixed it.

Please identify my boiler noise (sound recording included)

For the last couple of weeks my boiler (Ideal Classic FF260 on an open system) has started to make a whiny/whistling noise when it fires up. It lasts for a few seconds and then goes away. I've made a recording of the noise (Sounds a lot louder than the recording makes it) ...

Leak + Expansion tank constantly flowing - related ??

Funny you should say that as I already checked and its not covered for fixing the leak  But I am covered to repair damage done by the work and caused by the leak. Luckily the plumber can get all the work arranged so can just add the cost in. Update on the leak. I took the skirting...

Leak + Expansion tank constantly flowing - related ??

Thanks. I was considering opening up the wall to take a look myself. Although the plumber is a relative of a workmate and he does all the associated work and repairs so can get all the work covered off on the house insurance anyway.

Leak + Expansion tank constantly flowing - related ??

Recently discovered a leak in one of the internal walls of my house. Can see damp on both sides. Already arranged for a plumber to come out and have a look in a couple of days. Last night I noticed that the hot water cylinder sounded like water was flowing through/into it. When I went up to...

Central heating issue after bleeding radiators

OK wasn't confident fiddling around with any valves so called someone out. Explained to him what happened and he just opened 2 valves near the pressure/expansion vessel and hey presto it filled up to about 1.5 bar and closed them off and the central heating came on. I had to see the funny...

Central heating issue after bleeding radiators

Hi. Haven't got any tank in the loft. Just the boiler in the kitchen, tank and pressure/expansion vessel in the airing cupboard.

Central heating issue after bleeding radiators

Sometime last night it looks like my central heating failed......I'm assuming after I had bled some of the radiators. There was air/gas in a couple of radiators which started to flow but the very last radiator would not flow. Tghought I'd leave it till next day to check again. After realising...

New house - Question about the wall light fixings

Thanks. Will try to do the second option which will be much tidier. Unfortunately I connected with a terminating block and tested it and it keeps tripping the RCD so something is not connected right somewhere so looks like I've got more work to do. These wall lights are driving me nuts...

New house - Question about the wall light fixings

Ok - Been a long time but only got round to trying his today. After a lot of swearing managed to get both sets of T&E fitted to each wall light fixture. But then I got to the 3rd one (which I'm not going to use) and theres only one cable coming out of the wall. I was expecting 2x T&E like the...
