Best Type of Insert for Polycarbonate Conservatory Roof

Hi, we have put a ceiling up in our conservatory and now want to insulate the polycarbonate sheeting. What are the best type of inserts to use. Most of the ones found on Google appear to reflect the heat in summer rather than insulate in the winter which is what we need. Any advice would...

    Views on Roof Coatings

Hi, We have been pestered by people knocking at our door to do roof coatings. They never give you a price but want to make an appointment for a surveyor (salesman) to come and see you and they always insist that your wife is present. This smells of the old double glazing scams where...

    Bathroom Spotlights Flickering

Thanks for that, I will take a look at the pull switch. If it was the switch would it not affect all three lamps at the same time, either all three on or all three off? To clarify at the moment lamp A is off and B & C are on. Earlier B was off and A & C were on. Any combination of one or...

Cutting Into Ring Main For Spur

Simply to note that it is on a different circuit in case someone in the future switched of the MCB which has the label "sockets new extension" without double checking that they were all dead. Ben

Cutting Into Ring Main For Spur

Yes, but you have missed the point of the first post. I have tested the adapters on every socket in the house and sockets on the same ring main give double the speed of sockets on separate ring mains. The speed is very good on separate ring mains, 40-50% about 80mpbs, but with occaisional...

Cutting Into Ring Main For Spur

Yes I have looked at all of the options and running Cat5 would appear simpler, however: The router is in the old part of the house with solid brick, plastered and decorated walls. There is no way to get a Cat 5 from the router into the attic without running it on the surface or ruining the...

Cutting Into Ring Main For Spur

"No - but do you have sufficient slack in the cable to join them in the back of the new double socket? By the way you will be adding to the ring final circuit not adding a spur". Perhaps I was not clear in my first post. I am looking to cut into the cable between the last/first socket and...

Cutting Into Ring Main For Spur

Hi, I want to break into one of our ring mains to add a spur and have I two questions. 1. The break in point is between the last/first socket in the ring main and the consumer unit. Any problems with this? (There are no other spurs on this ring main). 2. I will be placing the new...

How to Plug Hole in Cisern Syphon

Hi, The disc in the side of my cistern syphon has popped out and is lost. I am now getting virtually no flush on the toilet and I need to plug the hole in the side of the syphon to stop it drawing air and stopping the flush. Any suggestions on how to do this short of buying a new syphon...

50 Cast to 40 Plastic Adaptor

Just thinking I could still do a gunged up PTFE tape, Plumbers Mait, silicone connection and then put the Osma collar over the lot for a belt and braces joint. Ben

50 Cast to 40 Plastic Adaptor

Yes, hadn't thought of that one! If nothing better comes up I may try that! There is an Osma reducer which will take, about 55mm OD to 40mm plastic available with a rubber collar so that would be very little grinding down to get the Osma collar over the cast. Ben
