How to deal with gaps between plasterboard and adjacent finished wall?

Hello. I'm preparing to do my first proper bit of skimming, which will be onto new plasterboard. I've got a situation in a couple of different places where the adjacent wall has already been plastered, but there are gaps in the corner where the plasterboard meets the finished wall. I'm not sure...

What brand of angle grinder discs are highest quality/ best regarded?

I've just bought a 125mm angle grinder for a few jobs around the house. I'm in the process of choosing a selection of discs for a range of tasks which I won't go into, as the question I have is fairly broad... which is: What brand(s) are well regarded for being high quality for angle grinder...

Can hot & cold pipes to boiler touch?

Thanks @oldbuffer. I didn't realise that about galvanised and copper - glad I asked! There's stainless steel fixing band... but I think saddle clips might be the way to go as you say. As sounds like even if I separated out the cold so it's not touching the hots, having any pipes strapped up...

Can hot & cold pipes to boiler touch?

Thanks for replying. Yes after the CH pump, the 22mm flow branches off to the upstairs and downstairs circuits in 15mm. 3 rads and a towel rail upstairs, 3 rads downstairs. So even if the cold main is kept apart, having the hot pipes bunched together and touching could still be an issue due to...

Can hot & cold pipes to boiler touch?

Hi all, I'm looking to reorganise some copper pipework to where a combi boiler will be installed. Planning to chase out a section of a conrete floor for the pipework and using fixing band instead of clips too so the chase doesn't have to be too wide or deep. My question is can all these pipes...

Old plumbing (galvanised steel?) flow question

Thanks @oldbuffer that’s a really helpful reply. Gives me the confidence that it’s at least worth exploring further, that it’s not a complete no-go. Sounds like it may just get me the flow rate I’m looking for. Thanks @Nige F for highlighting those caveats.

Old plumbing (galvanised steel?) flow question

I wish I could! There’s a service tunnel below us, I suspect that’s where it’s isolated from. But we can’t gain access without the management company, and they’re not doing visits until who knows when because of COVID.

Old plumbing (galvanised steel?) flow question

The rising main in my downstairs bathroom looks like galvanised steel- 27mm by my measurements, which eventually joins to 15mm copper in the kitchen. I'm looking to tee off somewhere to feed an unvented cylinder, so need the best flow rate possible. My question is, would the flow rate be better...

Reroute ductwork for larger cold water storage tank?

I spoke to Joule who told me it has to be mains fed - "An unvented cylinder needs to have a constant pressure and supply and you would not have this on an unvented cylinder" I have to admit I still don't fully understand why it can't be gravity fed if the pressure is more than adequate... in...

Reroute ductwork for larger cold water storage tank?

I appreciate all the input! Thanks to your comments I've pretty much decided not to go for a bigger cold tank and the pump and go for an unvented cylinder instead. The remaining issue I have is identifying what the pipes are feeding the airing cupboard. We're not sure if the cold feed is off...

Reroute ductwork for larger cold water storage tank?

@gasbanni cold pressure from the mains is just fine. Both unvented cylinder or thermal store sound like quite expensive options? It's not something I know much about, but wouldn't I need to get a system boiler installed with an unvented cylinder... A pump seems like it may well be the most...

Reroute ductwork for larger cold water storage tank?

I’m looking to install a pump (Stuart Turner Monsoon or Salamander) to boost hot water pressure all around a 3-bed maisonette, which is very poor currently. The pump manufacturer specifies a minimum of 50 gallons cold water storage for a single bathroomed house, which would mean having to get a...

Improving hot water pressure for mixer tap

Thanks, I appreciate the input. I didn't know that monoblocs were more restrictive than single taps. There are no obvious restrictions being caused by the connecting pipework. I don't need to get it anything like mains pressure, but just enough improvement to avoid having to fit a pump. As it...
