LED Bulbs - Warm Appear Cool White

Many thanks for all the replies, I really appreciate all the suggestions. On the back of this, I bought a LAP trailing edge dimmer switch and some LAP 2700K GU10 LED bulbs. I've installed the dimmer switch and BINGO, got the warm light effect that I've been after. I have tried it with the...

LED Bulbs - Warm Appear Cool White

I have ordered two different sets of GU10 LED bulbs that purport to be warm white, but both sets give off what I would describe as a stark or cool white illumination. They do not emulate the GU10 halogen bulbs I am replacing, and I am now wondering whether there are equivalents for these. The...

    Honeywell F1-9318 - Buzzing Noise

Many thanks. It was in the “Auto” position when I last looked. Both of them have been in operation for many years so maybe time to be replaced.

    Honeywell F1-9318 - Buzzing Noise

Thanks for your reply. On closer inspection, there are two of these valves, the other is a Honeywell F3-9601. The affected one is in the "Auto" position. What do they do and if it's now not working, how will this affect my heating and hot water?

    Honeywell F1-9318 - Buzzing Noise

During the early hours of today, this item was making a loud buzzing noise, which eventually stopped. I don't know what it is or what it does, and I don't know if the noise stopping was indicative of it now being broken. What does this do and if it is broken, how will this affect my heating...

Replacing 50W GU10 Dimmable Halogen Bulbs

Good points. Ultimately, I'm trying to reduce cost. I use my current dimmers to light stairs and hallway, and also my office, where I don't always need such bright light.

Replacing 50W GU10 Dimmable Halogen Bulbs

I want to replace these bulbs with the low energy equivalents, but do I need to change the bulb holders and do I also need to change the dimmer switch as I’ve seen there are two types of dimmers called leading edge and trailing edge, but I’m unsure what I would need. Thanks for your help.

Electrical Interfence When Dimmer Switched On

    Certainly will. Thanks.

Electrical Interfence When Dimmer Switched On

Hi, just thought I would provide an update. Had a sparky come round this evening and, as I previously said, the arcing noise didn’t occur and hasn’t since I examined the ceiling rose the second time. The sparky checked the dimmer connections and was happy with those. He then checked the...

Electrical Interfence When Dimmer Switched On

Although the kitchen and dining room are nearby I doubt they put the transformers outside of the kitchen. In reality I just don't know. Will update the thread when I find the answer. Thanks for all the help.

Electrical Interfence When Dimmer Switched On

One other thought. Could faulty transformers connected to the cabinet lighting cause this?

Electrical Interfence When Dimmer Switched On

I've checked as far as I can see and that fitting has been in place for several years as has the kitchen lighting. Yes, when I connected L1 & L2 the lights didn't come on. I thought I had a faulty dimmer but on closer inspection of the picture I took of the original dimmer and wiring I realised...

Electrical Interfence When Dimmer Switched On

No, I'm still none the wiser. I'm going to get a sparky in.

Electrical Interfence When Dimmer Switched On

I realised that when I changed the existing dimmer to the new one I wired it incorrectly. Instead of wiring L1 and COM (wavy line with arrow pointing) I wired L1 and L2 on both dimmers. I have now wired as per the original dimmer and whilst the lights work the arcing noise returned. Have to...
