Help removing concealed shower thermostatic cartridge

Hello, does anyone know how to remove the thermostatic cartridge from this concealed shower? The decorative collar won't budge (tried turning by hand, doesn't seem to be held in by a screw or otherwise). Not sure I should pull on the cartridge without removing the collar or other parts first...

    Patio Door Aperture

Thanks for everyone's help so far. Took all the advice and searched online for a solution and got one that the building inspector has approved at 280mm thickness: https://www.multifoilsdirect.co.uk/solutions/superquilt-external-wall-ybs-superquilt/ Wall includes: - external render -...

    Patio Door Aperture

My bad, the wall specifications came from the Architect initially and the SE agrees with them. The two building companies I talked to for quotes sounded flexible on the thickness of the walls (mentioned they could look at masonry/timber walls and material substitutions etc.) but the Arch + SE...

    Patio Door Aperture

I've asked the patio door installers to go with their surveyor's suggestion (which is catnic). The more difficult job is getting the SE to budge on the extension wall thickness...

    Patio Door Aperture

Thanks @RonnyRaygun From SE notes "Cavity fully filled with 100mm Rockwool cavity insulation per manufacturers' instructions and provide 50mm PIR insulation over vcl internally, e.g. Celotex GA4000" I read this about June 2022's changes: Under current requirements, an external wall U-Value...

    Patio Door Aperture

Finally have some responses. Not sure what to make of them but am waiting to see what the patio door installers say. What's a 250x300x40 m/s plate? SE made a mistake and changed this to 250x300x20mm Why not use a 152x152x23 instead of 203 x 203 x 46? Cost; 152x152x23 will need a plate to be...

    Patio Door Aperture

Sounds ridiculous now but I never thought to measure before  Thanks for the tip!

    Patio Door Aperture

Thank you everyone. Had to get my tape measure out - I’m getting 10 inch/25.4mm wall thickness. For some reason the architect’s been saying 9 inches all along and I didn't question it. On this basis the 250mm spreading plate works? Does this apply to a 10 inch/25.4mm thick wall? The beam...

    Patio Door Aperture

Sharing this in case it's useful for anyone else (or if anyone can see a problem with this): SE has explained "They are not columns but plate spreaders of the beam which is a part of the beam."

    Patio Door Aperture

The SE has emailed a new set of drawings. He's reduced that pier/return to 250 internal / 500 external and swapped the Catnic Lintel for a UC Beam. Hopefully he'll explain what's involved here... this looks like two columns at either end of the opening and a beam on top.

    Patio Door Aperture

Thanks @RonnyRaygun - in your opinion, this is something common/standard for a SE to do or would I be asking him something unusual.

    Patio Door Aperture

Appreciate any advice/pointers on this because my Structural Engineer has sent calculations for a door and aperture that don't add up I think (and hasn't responded for 2 days). We want to install sliding patio doors in the garden-facing back room which has an external width of 3430mm (location...
