    CH system leak but where?

Thanks madrab. Did what you suggested & it's not the boiler. Yesterday I was in the house & topping up the heating every couple of hours as the pressure was dropping from 2 bar to zero that quickly. Then I noticed that the cold water tank in the loft was over flowing. On checking this tank it's...

    CH system leak but where?

Hi WJF - ok, maybe the radiator isn't completely empty but it's 90% empty. Does that make any difference? I thought that the siginifcance was that most of the water has drained away rather than work out what % had drained away. Hi ollski - yes it's a Greenstar 30cdi Classic.. The condensate...

    CH system leak but where?

When the system is on and the radiators are warm I can feel warm water at the bottom of the empty radiators but the radiators go cold about 2 inches from the bottom and all the way to the top. When I bleed the radiators I can feel the warm water moving up the rad. No reason for 2 bar other than...

    CH system leak but where?

Hi I have a pressurised system for both CH and Hot water with a tank. The boiler is a Worcester Bosch Greenstar. A few years ago I thought I had a leak in pipes buried in the concrete floor, so had new pipes fitted dropped from the first floor. All good and system working again. Now a few...

    kitchen floor moisture & tiling

New floor has a dpm however the thought from my builder is that the damp might be coming from the walls. The external walls have a dpc but no idea with internal ones. Yes the new floor should be dry by now....

    kitchen floor moisture & tiling

I had my kitchen replaced about 18 months ago & the floor replaced with a new concrete one. House is Victorian so the previous floor had no insulation or damp proofing. I was going to fit Karndean or similar vinyl flooring however the concrete is still a bit damp. Builder suspects there...

head of pressure for CH system

Thanks The boiler & pump is on the ground floor & the radiator in question will be on the 2nd floor (loft room) so I just need to move the expansion tank to be higher up the loft room wall than the radiator...but on opposite sides of the wall :-)

head of pressure for CH system

How much higher than the highest radiator does the expansion tank need to be in a pumped CH system? I'm thinking it only needs to be a foot or so but prefer not to guess. Anyone with advice? Thanks

    Extending CH to loft room

I'm not planning to move the cold water tank. The loft room ensuite is fed by mains for the sink and toilet and by a pumped tank feed for the electric shower. The CH header tank will also be fed by mains. Mains pressure here is not very good but good enough for sinks & tanks, just not...

    Aqualisa Quartz in loft?

Put a sheet of polysyrene on a stand so that there is cover over it but allow for air flow to keep the unit cooler when operating?

    Extending CH to loft room

I have a typical central heating system with an expansion tank in the loft in my 2 storey Victorian house (ground & 1st floor). Having now got a loft room, to add a third storey, it has a small loft space aove this new room. If I move the expansion tank into this space, will I then be able to...

    Sealed CH system Qu

    That's good news. Thanks :D

    Sealed CH system Qu

I'm thinking of replacing my open vented system with a sealed system. Currently the room in the loft has to be heated by an electric heater as the expansion tank is the same height as the room. If I have a sealed system could I install a radiator in the loft room to heat the room insted...

4 showers - what size cold water tank(s)?

mains pressure is low - around 1 bar first thing in the morning but then drops when the rest of the town wakes up. I'm at the top of a hill with a 3 storey house & the loft room has one of the showers. I already have 2 electric showers running off mains water but they sometimes don't work...
