    Battens around window

Sorry for the delay, thanks for the reply. I like your suggestion. Then i got thinking, does any one think this would work - if i used a spring toggle fixing into the lintel as effectivly the linel is hollow (this is my lintel http://www.catnic.com/lintels/CN71A.aspx) Could anyone see any...

    Battens around window

I've internally insulated my garage conversion using Celotex GA4000. I 've followed the celotex instructions to the letter. So i installed ga4000 boards then i've installed wooden battens on top of the celotex, round the edge and vertically ready for the plasterboard. My only problem i need to...

    Installing Celotex Insulation

Thanks for the replay Everything is bought and ready to install. I'm fixing it to Thermalite Blocks in a garage conversion. There are no damp issues. The reason for doing it this way is purely cost.

    Installing Celotex Insulation

I'm just about to install some 60mm celotex pir board, batten and then plasterboard exactly as per celotex instructions. The only thing i'm not sure about it what screws to use to fix it to the wall. They have to go through the battens 25mm and the board 60mm. I was thinking of getting 160mm...

    Garage Conversion Insulation

Thanks for the reply ajrobb. How would you fix the battens to the PIR board and would i need the vapour barrier?

    Garage Conversion Insulation

That sounds like quite an expensive way of doing it isn't it? I would need to get double the amount of board all be it a thinner version? If i went this way how would i attach the plasterboard? I thought these boards had a vapour control layer on them already? Isn't that what the foil is for...

    Garage Conversion Insulation

Hi, I'm after a bit of advice regarding PIR boards. I've got an existing garage conversion which was converted before we moved into the house. The room is almost unusable in the winter as it is so cold. I know from having many people round to look at it that there is no cavity. I've now...

    Raising Joist height

OK I've read lots of thread on here about installing additional loft insulation and raising the height of the joist with cross battens. I'm going to lay an additional 200mm insulation at right angles to the existing insulation. currently there is about a two metre square area that is boarded...

    Fill Chased wall

Thanks for the reply. What i forgot to mention was the chase is 60mm deep in places. Is bonding plaster still the best option or would a sand cement render be better? Can i apply it all at once or do i need to build up in layers?

    Fill Chased wall

I've chased out the wall to put in pipes for a new shower and to sit the shower valve in. In some places the i've chased out up to 60mm mainly around the shower valve. What would be the best material to fill in the wall, I don't need a perfect finish cause i will be tiling over.

    Uneven joists

I'm redoing my en-suite shower room and at present have taken all the old chipboard floorboards up so i can but down a new plywood floor. The room is 1.8x1.7. I have a problem in that one of the joists is about 5mm higher that all the rest!!! What would the best solution be, should i raise...
