Putting a runner on the stairs when I lifted the old carpet up the fitter just had the underlay stapled to the stair none on the risers or over bullnose? Is this the way to do it or has it got to go on riser or even over bulldoze?

Do I really need to tell you, I have asked the question in floors stairs and loft also asked the same question in woodwork and carpentry, incase my question fell into that category I was going to also add it general diy..

Why would it be pointless, they have a lot of layers of paint to get off and some of the stairs has splintered they need sanding filling, paint burning off, I was look for an easier solution to doing this

When I said the thinnest ply I meant the least thickest plywood as in the thinnest mm, eg 5mm, don't believe I had to explain this really, the stairs are strong just old hand have layers of paint and some wood has splinter therefore needs filling, to save all the work of clearing them up, my...

hadn't really thought about that, i have will have 2 inches of stair showing either side of runner, which am not looking for it to be perfect, as long as its flush with stair i could wood fill any gaps, then paint

Can I apply the finest plywood to my stairs as they are in an absolute state, so I can fit a runner down, give me a yes or no answer, it's that simple don't give me more problems, can it be done, has it been done..

we are buying it, we did ask about a rubber roof and and she just said no its felt and we left it there suppose we could ask, we know a roofer who could do it for us if it was straight forward just go over the top i would like him to start dismantling anything.. thanks
