The tanks I'm looking at (2500 EHB horizontal and EVB vertical from https://www.envirostoreuk.com/tank-range/bunded-tanks/) are both fully bunded. The horizontal one does have a slightly smaller footprint (2.50m2 vs 2.64m2) but occupies a considerably bigger overall area (3.41m2 vs 2.64m2) so...

"Vertical" oil tanks are cheaper than "horizontal" ones. If space isn't an issue, do horizontal tanks have any advantages that make them worth the extra cost?

No such luck :( It ran for 7+ hours after I had cleaned the inline filter, but then it locked out again. It's now back to running for an hour or less after resets. I've now identified a leak from the pump, so I'm guessing that's the root of the problem. I'm at a loss to explain why it worked...

@Burnerman: The smell was of kerosene, not exhaust. I hadn't noticed smoke at the flue, just water vapour (or that's what I've always assumed it was). I don't have have the equipment to check the pressure and CO2, so I stayed well away from any adjustments - I just wanted to get it running well...
