Which replacement kitchen mixer tap ?

Mmmm... good point point about copper tails, I never thought of that, I guess the thinner flexi's might slow the hot supply down too much. It's been slow but acceptable for the last 10 years but I don't want it any slower. Time for a rethink. Thanks for your advice, very valuable.

Which replacement kitchen mixer tap ?

Many thanks for your advice Softus. I will have to check the minimum pressure on the Bristan tap. You're right, I'm not repairing the beige colour matched tap because apparently beige is out and chrome is in ! If I get a low pressure tap then am I right in thinking that as long as I get a tap...

Which replacement kitchen mixer tap ?

I have a Leisure Velstra Kitchen sink which came as a set including colour matched mixer tap about 10 years ago. Tap has copper tails. Cold is soldered to copper supply pipe and hot is straight compression fitted to supply pipe. Cold supply is mains and hot supply comes from hot water tank in...

How to age stone faster than nature ?

I don't want mildew I just want to darken the stone so soot looks like the thing to try. I guess I'll have to get the chimney sweep round and ask him to collect all the soot he can from my chimney or I can get a bag of coal. Does anyone know if the lumps of coal need crunching into smaller...

How to age stone faster than nature ?

Once again, speedy responses to my questions, many thanks. There would have been coal fires where I live and so maybe this explains a lot of the darkness on the stone. I will try a couple of experiments on a small area at the back of the extension. Yoghurt/water and maybe even...

How to age stone faster than nature ?

My house is built of coursed stone which has obviously aged over the years and is quite dark, almost black in places. A couple of years ago I had an extension built which is also stone coursed in to line with the original stone. The extension is not new stone but it is a lot lighter than the...

Movement of gutter and unions causing leaks.

Many thanks to each of you for you speedy responses. The gutter is black and I was up a ladder in the pouring rain this morning having yet another closer look and trying to clip it together in a vain attempt to stop my small back garden from flooding. I didn't have any knowledge of how...

Movement of gutter and unions causing leaks.

My guttering is driving me crazy. Two years ago I had uPVC fascias fitted along with new half-round plastic rain water guttering. Some months ago when it rained I saw water pouring down past one of my windows. Investigation showed that a length of gutter had moved completely out of one of the...

Advise about Slate floor tile adhesive.

I wish I had read your update earlier nellyb. Anyway, to try and cut a long story short my local builders merchants don't sell tile adhesive and I can't find any of the other recommended brands (Mapei, Granfix, Dunlop, Feb) locally so I decided to bite the bullet and get a quote for BAL...

Advise about Slate floor tile adhesive.

Lightening fast response, thanks. I've seen FEB recommended in other posts but have struggled to find it in google or anywhere. Dumb question but presumably FEB is the brand name ? I have to admit that I thought floor tile adhesive would be too specialist to be supplied by my local general...

Advise about Slate floor tile adhesive.

I guess floor tilers are very busy in Yorkshire because one guy couldn't quote me for 6 weeks and another who did quote now doesn't return my calls. Probably because the room is an oddish shape and there were a lot of cork tiles to remove. Having removed the cork tiles myself the information...
