Went for the Airflow with humidity+pull cord timer.
After installing the first comment was its big :)
Had a shower and after a few minutes the humidity control activated so first impressions are good. I may remove the switched live as it does not serve much purpose. The light is only used...
Rats meant to post this in the electrics forum.
Thanks for replying, the hunidstat was a bit of a pain. Setting up was trial and error. It was a while ago and I may have just used the timer in the end as it seemed temperamental.
My wife tells me "How come no one else suffers from this problem" :)
The existing fan is a 4" timed with a switched live from the light switch - since the major source of water vapour is the shower, which we usually have during the day it doesn't really serve much purpose (the door is...
We have 12 of these, 8 in the kitchen and 4 in the bathroom. They are no problem, but obviously use more electricity and also discolour the paint around the fittings. Holes are about 65mm in the bathroom and 75 in the kitchen.
If I was replacing them with more efficient LEDs I seem to have 3...
I should have said it was a central heating contract. I wasn't there when they did the test so didn't see what was done. No changes to the electrics have been done since the last test. The RCD is over 25 years old so could it be their tested is only compatible with more modern units.
I think...
We have a service contract with BG.
The last time they came they left a safety advice note for my wife that said there was a possible issue.
The report recommends contacting an approved electrician and the concern was "Earth loop tester tripping out electrics.
The only problem we have...
Thanks for the replies.
Six lovely big holes in the ceiling to get access so fitting junction boxes is no problem! I didn't know about choc block connectors, I looked in a set of Ring selv lights and they had connectors for the transformer wires. I was a bit surprised at the time and this...
Thanks secure,
I suspected as much, most guides only cover how to install a straightforward installation. Once things start getting compicated it is difficult to know what is the best way.
For information the wiring I was looking at was in a suspended ceiling and this is the junction...
Back to the original topic of connectors, I have only seen illustrations where connector blocks have been used to connect a light fitting or in a box.
Are there other places they can be used?
e.g. to connect cable in a loft or ceiling.
Should they be used as a mini junction box?
