My washing machine is not using the softner on a wash. Thw tray is filling up with water but staying there along with the softner. Any ideas on what may be causing this or what I could do to fix it?? Thanks

Thanks all for further comments - sounds like I have the issue you are all mentioning. The question is am I capable of fixing it!! I have attached a pic as suggested by bathstyle. Any tips on how I go about investigating?? Oh dear, not sure how to load pic onto post! It will follow!!
