Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Thanks. I only got the spur done today as I doubled checked, then triple checked everything, given this was my first attempt at chasing. I have been over the planned route for the HDMIs & Coax a dozen times and I am confident the road is clear. So, I'll tackle that tomorrow and hopefully get...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

I agree. Whilst I could well believe that leads do become faulty at times, I have never had a HDMI or coax cable become faulty. The redundancy here is that I am going to run 2 HDMI cables in the conduit when I only need one. But hey, it's a risk I have to take as I cannot do a straight run in...

Plaster all the way to the floor, John. I took a length of skirting off today to check.

I will get a look on Friday when I take the skirting off and I'll report back.

I have, as I have to take the skirting off any way to lay flooring, but as I'm using a chaser it's too big and bulky to ensure chase stays behind skirting. That said, surely a horizontal chase behind the skirting is the same as a horizontal chase further up the wall?

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Thanks again for your informative posts, mate. I have decided to go for 25mm x 16mm trunking with the clip on lid as it's plenty for what I need it for - having bought a 2m length and tested it at home. I hear ya about not being able to add additional leads with connectors but given my needs...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Looking at the plans, the internal solid walls are 140mm deep, so I am expecting the external walls to be the same with the additional cavity and then final brickwork. If 140mm deep, then I should get away with a 23mm deep chase, right? I'll air on the side of caution though and go to 20mm. As...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Yeah, plaster straight on top of blocks. "another 10mm+ and you're close to weakening the wall." You know, I had thought about that, not because I'm an expert (I'm not) but just thinking about it logically, so I'm glad you've brought it up. I should have been clearer too, the chase will be...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

OK, I have worked it out. Blue = Spur (easy enough) White = HDMIs, Ethernet, coax White Box = White brush faceplate Orange Box = Fireplace I will chase along the horizontal white line, fit 38mm conduit with clip off cover. Install leads and bring them out freely behind the fireplace (no...

I wish! It would make the job so much easier. It's solid walls in the room.

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Is that a newly plastered wall? - New build. Is this ground floor or upstairs, and are you certain about the existing wiring going up from the sockets? - Sitting room in a house. It's an informed guess to be honest, but I will be removing the faceplates to check for cable direction before...

Advice on chasing leads into solid wall for TV

Thanks. I was thinking of using at least 38mm trunking with the removable cover that can be clipped on and off to allow the placement of HDMIs etc. Obviously the issue with this is that once in situ they cannot be removed without cutting the ends off and pulling the cable through. But it's...
