    Cistern overflow connection?

Now I know the ribbed nut is a part of that, that makes sense. Till now, I thought the standpipe was just a bit of pipe and a tank connector; which wouldn't have that extra nut.

    Cistern overflow connection?

Okay. Thanks. I found this overflow standpipe at Wickes which does show that ribbed nut. No mention of a sealing ring, but I have o-rings that'll do the job (even if it isn't strictly necessary :) The standpipe is a fixed length. Presumably I just cut the top off to match my cistern?

    Cistern overflow connection?

Hi, The connector between the bottom of the overflow tank connector and the 21.5mm pipe that goes through the wall has broken. That is, the "nut" -- a round piece of threaded plastic with ridges rather than flats -- sheared radially between the internally threaded part and what appears to be a...

    Costing estimate for HSV3 replacement.

Ah! Its in the (first floor) airing cupboard next to the cylinder. 450mm up from the base of the 1200x450mm cylinder.

    Costing estimate for HSV3 replacement.

No shut off valves unfortunately. If they were there, I'd do it myself. So, full drain down is inevietable. 4 hrs costs what these days? (Note: I don't mind paying someone to do that which I am either incapable (gas) or unprepared (tools, knowledge, experience) ((WATER)) to do myself. but I...

Open vented. Top or bottom of what?

    Costing estimate for HSV3 replacement.

My HSV3 (22mm) is leaking (again) so I need to get someone to replace it for me. I can get the valve itself for £25; but how much will it cost to have someone fit it? Best estimate for SE England?

    HSV3 leaking. A temporary fix?

The system has "inhibitor". I added myself after my radiators started springing leaks because they were rusting from the inside out. (Or was the "unicorn tears" pure sarcasm? ;) Why do they leak? Is it chalk buildup? Can they not be cleaned? It bugs me intensely to replace £45 worth of cast...

    HSV3 leaking. A temporary fix?

What I did. Slackened off the bottom two screws, worked a piece of fine grade emery paper between the valve body and the actuator mounting plate with the rough side facing the plate and pulled it through a couple of times to remove any rust that had built up. Then I took a piece of that...

No car, too far to walk.

    HSV3 leaking. A temporary fix?

My HSV3 is leaking quite badly. I've removed the motorised switch and managed to first loosen the four rusted screws and then tighten them again which has slowed the rate of leakage markedly, but not entirely. I get that the cure is to fit a new valve, but is there anything more I can to to...
