An accumulator won't help with low static pressure, it'll just help to reduce pressure drop when running. (Dynamic pressure)
An accumulator with a pump (or an all in one solution) is probably what you need to push the water upstairs.
Indeed!
I did build a small one in the end just to test the theory and it did work.
A small accumulator tweaked with some flow valve controlled release and a non return valve in the inlet did hold up the dynamic water pressure where it otherwise would have dropped.
I only used a very...
It's a pretty old thread you dug up here nalle59 and one that's not really related to your problem either?
I suggest you start a new thread if you want further advice.
Basically you have a leak somewhere. That will either be in your existing radiator systems or pipework, or within the...
No problem, although the "table" probably wasn't much use!
I personally found that getting useful information to make an informed decision quite a pain when going through the process. This is mainly down to the manufacturers, they could all try a lot harder.
I can't think of another industry...
I deleted the most complete one but have one from backup, unfortunately it doesn't paste well into here. It's nothing exciting either just details I was able to glean from the brochures etc to try and compare side by side and this is looking crap on the limited formatting of thise forum I'm...
Yeah, the system was thouroughly flushed out. Then filled with a cleaner and run for 24 hours, then drained and flushed again before it's final fill.
The water that came out was actually very clean anyway, still had plenty of inhibitor in it. I expected that though, I dropped a bit out and...
Well it was fitted over the past few days and it's all up and running now.
Performance is pretty good but let down slightly by our water supply so I'm considering an accumulator just to keep the pressure a bit higher to get a little more uumph from the shower.
At the moment it's giving it...
Just an update as I got an email on this old thread.
I got quotes on both unvented/system and the highflow and could only get 3 plumbers out of the 14 I called to actually quote on an unvented.
There were some boiler positioning issues that made for extra work flueing and moving of existing...
I expect even if the meter is over reading there's probably still a problem with the boiler too as discussed.
According to Ofgem though, "only" 3 out of 10 meters sent for testing are actually faulty. That sort of number doesn't really sound like an "only" to me...
It was actually...
Minor update.
Yesterday they changed the meter, it's now a brand new cubic meter version.
Previous usage while measuring was consistantly around 1.4 units = 140 cubic ft = 3.96 cubic meters a day during the last 4 weeks daily readings.
First day on the new meter for 24 hours is 2.2 cubic...
Ah, no I'm afraid not. With the flue on the top they're too tall - need about 1050mm and even if we raise the counter we've only got about 900mm.
Under a (non opening) window too (just to complicate matters) but wouldn't like to cut that close and only leave around 1 brick above even if the...
True! It would be an easier sell if the boiler wasn't happily purring away innocently in it's current position. Not sure it's wise stabbing it with a screwdriver to help it fail though.
Her get out clause would just be to go with the WB Highflow 440 which does fit without...
Yes Dan, sounds quite familiar...
Had a similar question myself recently glynstab, but mine was prior to choice so nothing fitted yet.
You're not going to gain any flow or pressure when the rest of the system is commisioned.
Our stoptap was in 15mm but the rest of the incoming...
@gas4you I did suspect they might be problematic at the lower end of the reputation spectrum. I had hoped these particular models might have had a chance of differing from the norm.
Didn't know Vaillant did a floorstander though, that's excellent news - must have missed that one somehow...
