There is a paint on the market called Flexacril or another make is Acrypol. Turns to rubber when it dries and has fibers in it which allows you to cover gaps up to 5-6 mm. Its ideal for what you want and i use it regularly. Sell it at all main builders merchants eg. Jewsons, keyline,etc, but...
