Hi again, problem solved, the man that said it was the thermistor wins the money lol. Got one from ebay brand new £6.50 fitted it in 10 mins no more mystery boiler incidents.

Hi I have the same thing wrong with my ariston euro A23 it comes on by itself but wont deliver hot water and cant be turned off, your boiler does have a thermister and if it not working like i suspect mine to it will cause the boiler to think that it is cold and turn on randomly, see link...

Fault, boiler has a mind of its own turns on by itself and can only be turned off by switching off at front. When turned back on and DHW or CH is attempted no hot water is delivered and boiler wont go off again. Could it be the thermister telling boiler its cold? Had new diverter 3way...
