That didn't quite do it either. Fitted the link and now I have control over heating. CH valve permanently open though. I can open and close the WH valve from the over ride on the programmer, but it's not firing up the boiler?

SYSTEM: Worcester Bosch 8000 Life regular boiler on S Plan system. Honeywell Normally Closed 2 port valves. Honeywell programmable controller. Nest E running as on/off and providing a heating schedule. I would switch to heating HW manually at the controller when needed...

I don't have any fancy zones or smart trv's either, but I picked up the Easy Control for a good price, so thought I'd give it a go. I'll be hanging on to the Nest E just in case.

Thanks awhite243. Wireless would be simple, unfortunately I don't think the signal would reach as the boiler is quite a distance from the stat. I've heard quite a few complaints about signal drop outs. Not sure if people are refering to the WiFi or the wireless link, but at least I can...

Thanks. This boiler is a system boiler as I cought a glimpse of an expansion vessel in it. But I guess connecting up both Ch and HW to the 230v wont do any harm. I noticed he also did not remove the white "on/off" jumper wire. Again I can't see how if I put it back it will do any harm, just...

If your boiler is heat only, ie not a system boiler, do you know which connections the jumpers attatch to?

I forgot to come back and put an end to this saga. It was a partial blockage of the heat exchanger. Once it was replaced, everything worked as it should. I've now thoroughly chemical flushed the system and replaced all the rads. Fingers crossed that should be enough to prevent any re-occurrence...

Would I be able to just drain, cut the rad pipes to just above floor level and cap with push fit end stops, then refill? Would there be any problems with doing this? I could then hang the new rads and get a plumber in for a 2 or 3 hours to adjust the pipes for the 9 new radiators. Does 2 or 3...

I don't, but even if there was one, I think I'd still need some way to isolate the two systems to allow me to drain down the heating side.
