Pump only running when timer set to “on” rather than “timed”

Thanks everyone for the inputs. I wanted to come back and post the solution. It turns out the controller was not sending the 240V to the thermostat so it didn't know that the heating needed turned on. This must have been an intermittent fault in the controller (but I still don't know why this...

Pump only running when timer set to “on” rather than “timed”

I haven't reset it yet, I can try this. The pump seems to be connected to a wiring center, there's a lot coming and going from it and I haven't opened it up and traced it. I assume the pump connects to the boiler from there.

Pump only running when timer set to “on” rather than “timed”

Hi Murdochcat Drayton LP522. Yes it's been working ok for a long time. I've only recently noticed this problem in the last few weeks because the house has occasionally been a bit cold. Eventually the pump seems to kick in and the heating comes back on again, so it's been tricky to notice. Come...

Pump only running when timer set to “on” rather than “timed”

Hi stem - thanks for the response and the details! You are correct - there is a hot water cylinder and two 2-port motorised valves so this is S-plan. I agree it seems odd that changing from ON to TIMED switches everything off since as far as the controller is concerned, ON and TIMED are the...

Pump only running when timer set to “on” rather than “timed”

Hi heating experts! The house is occasionally cold in the mornings and on investigation it looks like my central heating controller seems to not always be turning the pump on reliably when in 'TIMED' mode. (Boiler is a Viessman Vitodens 100 and the pump is a Wilo variable speed pump all...

How to stop leaves blocking a 6" storm drain

Wire mesh isn't ideal because it's right next to the shed door and will end up getting stood on. Nevertheless, this is what I've ended up doing. I've just ordered a regular domed leaf guard which is stronger than mesh but probably not strong enough to stand on. It'll do for now. The shed door is...

    No problem, here you go:

How to stop leaves blocking a 6" storm drain

Thanks, that's the kind of thing I need but they tend to be round and the wrong size to fit on the existing drain hole. It has to be something you can stand on too. I will keep looking for the atrium grate and see what I can come up with.

How to stop leaves blocking a 6" storm drain

I have a storm drain at the bottom of the garden path which collects a large amount of rainwater and directs it into an adjacent stream. Unfortunately since it's only a 6x6" grate it covers over with leaves frequently during the autumn and all the storm water then floods my shed. It's all set...

How to remove internal back panel of Hoover freezer?

There's a drain hole in there which gets frozen up and needs unblocking. Without removing the panel the only way is to defrost the thing in the traditional manner and that is a pain in the arse.

How to remove internal back panel of Hoover freezer?

Yes I reckon you're right, it is probably the simplest solution! Thank you.

How to remove internal back panel of Hoover freezer?

Thanks sircerebus666, the top section with the oval vents does indeed appear to be a separate section and there are screws behind it but unfortunately it's slotted in behind the bottom section and so can't be removed first. I don't know if it's just frozen on but if I leave it switched off and...

How to remove internal back panel of Hoover freezer?

Hello, I've got a Hoover frost-free fridge freezer, just over a year old, model HVBF5182WK. The drain hole in the bottom of the freezer is frozen/blocked and as a result the drain water is now forming ice under the bottom drawer. It's not a big problem and it should be an easy fix to...

Downstairs lighting circuit MCB randomly tripping since electrician's visit last week.

Hi John, The RCD is not in the consumer unit, it's standalone connected directly to the meter. The electrician did say something about not being allowed to remove the fuse but I didn't appreciate what he meant at the time. I guess I need to contact the supplier direct then? Chris

Downstairs lighting circuit MCB randomly tripping since electrician's visit last week.

He was a little vague about pricing, maybe it's too small a job for him to come back and do (he is not all that local). The problem with personal recommendations is it only really makes sense if someone has had a lot of electrical work done otherwise it's a single review. It makes more sense...
