First thing is some Councils allow you 6 months zero council tax, others 6 months 50% off etc. I believe it's up to individual councils to set their empty property council tax policy.
One other think to think about is insurance for a vacant building. You might find you need specialist insurance!!!
Give your local council building control department a call. Ask for their advice. If you get a helpful person they might even offer to pop round and take a look. As far as I am aware windows installations have to be certified and registered with the Council. Most installers self certify but the...
Just read your thread. I am no plasterer but have found some great advice here.
I am sure you are aware that technically if you are refurbishing the wall it should comply with todays building regs. I believe that you should be aiming to achieve a U value less than 0.3 for the wall.

Gave it a coat of bonding then 2 coats of multi. It's not going to win any prizes but I am pleased with my first attempt.
So thanks very much for all the helpful posts here.
If you don't want to see where the walls were I would get a plasterer to fill in deep 'holes' then skim whole wall.
The finished walls will look so much better than trying to blend the patch.
I would ask your plasterers advice as it's him who will be skimming it and have his reputation to protect.

Good Luck
Looks like my impatience didn't pay off
Don't know what I did wrong but the second coat of sand & cement did not stick!! After almost 24 hrs I went to knock off the ridges of the scratches and it was not dry and just scraped off completely!
So I decided to remove all the second coat...
Cheers.
As I was impatient I gave it another coat of sand & cement. So I only have about 2 mm left for the multi finish.
Fingers crossed that will be OK.
Thanks.
I am new to plastering but I was always under the impression that plasterboard needed to be firmly fixed on all sides. Don't know if it's photos but why do you want the angle?
Looking at it, would it not be better to remove the window architrave before the plasterer does the making good. That...
I have done the sand cement and it is nearly dry.
I am intending to PVA it and when tacky try giving it 2 coats of multi finish.
I did have a bit of difficulty getting the render on thick enough next to the window frame and in some places it is 11mm from the face of the wall.
So will I be...
I have added an image to show the repair I need to do.
Just trying to do a temp repair this year and next year need to get whole room and ceiling redone but money tight this year.
Thanks for any help
