so as a general consensus whats the best idea
1 - use rockwool - with no messing just shove it in
2 - use 50mm with padding on the studs
3 - use 50mm without padding on the studs
the plaster board used will be 12.5mm and im putting up the smaller sheets ( 1800* 900mm ) and will be...
the only thing that worried me is on the edge of the plater board - would it not crack
but i suppose you just dont go mad screwing it in
the wall was flat anyways ( its already been plastered many moons ago - so the studding has fastened to it no probs ) with no need for packing out...

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh well that helps - i thought they only stocked standard sizes of 50mm 75mm etc..
i got some measured up before in a shop - and they were selling it as 3 inch wide - but it was 80mm - so thats bigger than spec'd ( as it would be around the 75-76mm mark )...

i have an external cold wall so im putting up some studding , filling with "something" and then plasterboarding over.
I have gone and bought a load of 2*2 to start making the frame and this is where the fun has started
i have built the outside of the frame as a starting point...
thats the thing thats preying on my mind - is it actually worth just doing the one wall - the only thing that says its a good idea is that ..
1 - wall with window ( this is insulated when cladded and i have insulated under the window behind the plasterboard via a crawl space )
2 - the rear...

i have done some searching and reading and really just want to confirm a few things
we are redecorating a bedroom in our house and we are going to get it re-skimmed - so whilst im making a mess i thought i would insulate one of the walls ( and the fact that the room is bloody freezing...

the whole lot will be replaced - but like i said - from the outside eye - it does read that you can replace a lot of it yourself
from my point of view they should give clear advice for the average DIY'er or failing that a diagram tells a...
could i not do it under section 2B 1.B - as the upstairs is a single circuit - or is a single circuit classed as from one plug to another ?

from what i have read so far - it looks like i would have to continue using the 4mm wiring - so that clears that up ( ish !! )
and the upstairs rewire - according to the local regs - it says that you can fix wiring thats not in the kitchen/bathroom/outside without notification...
i have just been reading the local building control and basically for the work i want doing - the council has to be told - but aslong as they chap is registered OK - then he can sign it all off
i have to admit its a mine field of what you can and cant do - and they dont make it very clear...
