    Ideal Isar HE35

Boiler only fires up for approx 2 minutes (constant blue light) before returning to a flashing light, presumably until the water in the boiler cools down. Programmer is set to 20 degrees c but the room thermostat takes far too long to get to that temp, if at all. Under normal operation the...

    Fitting new radiator

A friend of mine wants an old radiator in the kitchen removed and a new one installed but positioned on another wall. This means isolating the pipework for the old rad and t'ing off from another location in the house for the new one. First question, is there a recommended max distance from the...

    Diverter Valve Problem?

Tony, thanks for your advice. Think I'll try the repair route first before I need to buy a new valve. Looks like they upwards of £100 plus the fitting.

    Diverter Valve Problem?

Hi all. I have a 4 year old Ideal isar H35 condensing combi. All radiators are permanently warm without the CH or DHW being on. I think it could be a faulty diverter valve. As with most modern combis my boiler fires up occasionally to heat up water via the Heat Plate Exchanger and I think it is...

    30ma rcd

Went to CEF in Bedford and, RF Lighting you were right, they don't do a rcbo for my cu but apparently they can get an rcd. So i'll put the breaker back and get a spark to install the rcd. Thanks.

    30ma rcd

Thanks all, for your advice. Looks like I'm back to getting an rcd fitted between the cu and shower.

    30ma rcd

Thanks ColJack. I'll see if I can get an rcbo to fit.

    30ma rcd

Thank wingcoax. I'm not a spark so won't be doing the work myself but am looking for cost so I don't get ripped off, not that I would be! Here's a pic of my cu (pt 13). Maybe you can tell me if an rcbo will fit. I've disconnected and removed the shower mcb in readiness for the new installation...

    30ma rcd

Just a quick question. Is it possible someone can give me an estimated cost of fitting an rcd in between a shower and a cu (assuming the job is relatively simple)? Average prices for rcd's appear to be around the £35 mark. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Wiring up an external security lamp

Yes, JB has 4 connections with a combination of blues, browns, blacks and reds. Did as you suggested and moved the brown to another connection. Unit now works perfectly with no exceptions! Thanks again.

Wiring up an external security lamp

Stephen, fitted as per your instructions and everything works perfectly except....unit only works when the kitchen lights are switched on! Someone suggested to me (and I quote): "You need to find, (or rewire), a junction box that has a full time hot wire, not a box that goes totally dead when...

Wiring up an external security lamp

Thanks for answering my questions and you're right about the 23A cable size. But can you please explain what a 3A FCU is, is it some sort of circuit breaker? Just out of interest would wiring direct from the JB to the lamp make the lamp inoperative or something more serious? Thanks again.

Wiring up an external security lamp

I have purchased an external security lamp (with PIR sensor) from FOCUS. I have two questions: 1. Can I wire it up from one of the round junction boxes found under my upstairs floorboards? I have checked that the junction box is for lights only. 2. What wiring should I use? I have some 2 core...
