Thinking back we did have a nano power cut where the mains went off for less than a second, enough to knock out the Virgin media box in the street and guys had to come out over night to sort.
However this was a week before the problem, would have though if it was gonna go would have gone then...
Power suppy arrived yesterday, fitted and all is again well. Checked the voltage as a matter of interest and is reading a steady 13.8v on and off the board. Lets hope that Rev.6 is the last and they don't now fail prematurely!
Thanks to all for the heads up, history and advice.
Am I right in saying that the wire wound were AC with an inverter to converter it to DC on the borad and these new ones do it in the power suppy itself, so more stuff to fail?
Spoke with tech support today and pretty much confirmed bad PSU due to high voltage in free air and low voltage once connected to the board.
Thought they would have sent one out by return post, however have sent me back to the supplier with an RMA code!
Spoke with supplier and informed me they...
Hi Sparky
Got the panel wrong its a 48. Yes measured off the Aux and bell terminals. Dissconnected the battery from the bell today and it is hard wired.
Thanks
Sparky
Thanks for taking the time, a credit to the forum!
Tested as you asked, battery disconnected all read 0.5v.
Battery is a solid 12.5v
Many thanks
Hi Sparky
Agreed its strange, just checked the voltage with plug connected to board and get the following.
Red to black 12 to 13.7v
Red to blue 10.6 to 12.4v
Red to yellow 12 to 13.7v
With battery connected.
Battery dissconnected
Only get around 2 v on all terminals.
And 0v on battery...
Hi Guys
Fitted 1/2 a dozen alarms over the years, maintance technician by trade so know the basics.
Had this panel installed about 6 months and today had a Mains off, PS Failure, Power O/P fault. Power is still applied to PSU and panel. Molex measures around 20v when checked across the red...
