No squeaks yet! I also primed some areas and poured some self levelling compound which has been set about 24 hours with no cracks yet! Next job is fibreboard and laminate. The fitting a kitchen next week... This diy stuff seems never ending!!!
I've just finished replacing all my floorboards in the kitchen (suspended floor) with 18mm plywood.
It's reasonably level and I've used a lifetime supply of screws.
But there are still a few dips when I skim a large spirit level over some areas.
I've seen screwfix do a 'flexible self levelling...
I left a 1/8th inch gap between boards and caulked all the gaps. I read on a different thread on this forum from years ago that someone did that and got no squeak issues..
I've just finished replacing my old ruined floorboards with 18mm plywood.. All went well and smooth.
I got the ply from wickes where it was simply marked up as hardwood plywood 18mm..(8x4)
Was about £30 a sheet and seemed nice and solid.
Now the jobs done and I've been having a look about...
hi all and happy new year
I live in an early Victorian house with suspended timber floors which can be very cold and draughty... In my loft I have 6 or 7 unused rolls of insulation, I was simply going to spend one afternoon rolling them out in the loft as an extra layer but then wondered if they...
My address isn't listed but does come under a conservation area. It was enough hassle getting a sky dish which had to go on the rear of the house... Perhaps I'm being a bit too ambitious with my idea. Would probably be cheaper and easier to move house haha
This is my neighbouring property which has a 'workshop entrance' and is the sort of thing I was looking to do but be able to drive my car in rather than just use it for storage like they do
A work colleague said something about the size not meeting garage requirements but said when he did some renovation work on his house he was advised that doors/windows need no permission so if I could convince a planning officer that a garage door was a door to a workshop which I just so happen...
Hi,

We have no...
The kitchen was installed by IKEA in approx 2004. We bought the house in March 2014 and the survey said it had non progressive dips in the floor (can't remember exactly how they Worded it)
I do think its a bit odd as the skirting board doesn't have a big gap in it.. As if it has either sunk with...
Sorry for all the questions!
With all this extra weight on the floor would it be worth putting in some noggins and supports under the floorboards and void to stop the floor sagging in the middle??
One last thing is this sort of work likely to cause any dry rot/damp issues. I do keep the air...
