    I did want a remote control dimmer, I already fitted one for my ceiling lights and it works like a dream using spare button on my TV remote control. The lights are only 2 little 40W bulbs. Any further ideas? Thanks again guys

    One more question: Can I replace this FCU with an unswitched version? Purely to improve looks and avoid confusion. Since if I leave the original FCU in place it will never be switched off, what difference would it make?

    I was worried you were going to say that! Does the fused spur switch have to stay in place or can I use some kind of in-line fuse and fuse holder? I'm trying to avoid cutting another hole in the wall... Where would I wire the dimmer, in the live feed in series (or in place of) the current...

    Yeah it is back as was now and is working as before. Switch correctly controls power to both lights

    Yes it is a fused unit rather than a regular switch.
