The Xpelair unit looks suitable. I need to comply with build regs but actually the basement has an open staircase which is cited as one form of ventilation. So whilst I might choose to fit a unit do I have to have one in this situation?

My Saunier Duval Thema F23E boiler manual says it can be run without the need for a room thermostat. I have TRV's on all rads. Is there any advantage to adding a room thermostat? Any real problems if I leave it as it is?
I need to install a ventilation unit like a ventaxia heat recovery unit in a basement conversion. Any suggestions for the easiest unit to retro fit and wire up/ vent to the outside. Was initially recommended the Ventaxia HR100RS but his seems to small for a 5m x 4m x 2.1m room?
