Poor flow rate (cold) at one end of house compared to another

Yeah that makes sense but I just can't imagine what, in this case. The Quooker and outdoor tap and some other bits are all fed off this one spur, and everything on this spur seems to be a low flow rate. The Quooker was serviced, but I only turned the isolator for the Quooker off. In my mind...

Poor flow rate (cold) at one end of house compared to another

I do have a Quooker tap in the kitchen which I serviced around the same time it went bad. This obviously involved turning off isolators etc for the tap and taking the Quooker tank apart, but the isolator was just for that tap, not the whole leg which has the now slow running garden tap on it.

Poor flow rate (cold) at one end of house compared to another

I have noticed recently the flow rate from my cold water tap seems to have dropped. No idea why. In investigating it I've found that the flow rate at one end of my house compared to the other is markedly different. My house is a variously extended 1960s house which used to have a cold water...

    Right-angled 3/8" BSP screw adapter?

I saw that, but thought that might be more suited to taper type joints where you also use ptfe tape, rather than one that a tap connector screws onto with a fibre washer?

    Right-angled 3/8" BSP screw adapter?

I have a Quooker tap and naturally as they are european, everything is in 3/8. The tap tail is a 3/8 screw with fibre washer which screws onto a 3/8 isolation valve. It is a little taught, so I'd like to put a right angled adapter onto the 3/8 isolation valve so that the tap tail connects...

White stuff on brickwork - can it be removed

There are plenty of threads on white stuff coming out of brickwork, but I'm not quite sure exactly what the stuff in my photos attached is. I've tried scrubbing it but to no avail. Is there some kind of cleaner that could get this stuff off? It doesn't look like it's going to shift on its own...

    Leaky soil pipe

Ahh yes I was wondering about that. I have a reciprocating saw, perhaps I'll give that a go, thanks.

    Leaky soil pipe

Great, thanks for the advice, and for the asbestos pointer. I’ve just checked and a magnet sticks to it so that’s a result. I’ll get a new flexi, dig all the old stuff out of the collar and make sure it goes fully into the pipe.

    Leaky soil pipe

I wonder if anybody can give some advice here… As you can hopefully see in the picture, this flexi to “old” soil pipe connection is leaking. Clearly I’ll need to pull the flexi out and reseal it, but what sort of sealer is it that’s required? Many thanks for any pointers!

Broken conduit on DNO side... would you bother?

The conduit on the DNO side of my incoming feed has gone all brittle and is breaking off slowly bit by bit over the weeks. I certainly don't want to spend any money on it, but what would people do? - Tell the DNO and see if they'll sort it for free as it's their side - Not bother doing anything...

    Carpet advice

Thanks! What would you do in my situation?! Join or lay the other way?! I’m struggling to work out what’s best. I don’t think I’m too fussed it looking a different shade up there. The house is hardly a show house and there’s a window there casting shadows and sunlight in that area anyway.

    Carpet advice

We’d like to get a new carpet for our hallway, stairs and landing. We have had a quote and annoyingly a join is going to be needed on the landing. This is apparently because you want to keep the carpet all in the same ‘direction’, otherwise it might look wrong. The join can be avoided simply...

Painting the ceiling above a shower cubical

The ceiling is indeed very low and it’s right up in a loft space (hence the ceiling shape). Frustratingly the few inches of space above it isn’t accessible, except for punching a hole in the plaster. The fan ducting runs down the slope of the roof in the void between batons and plaster. It...

Painting the ceiling above a shower cubical

A piece of tissue over the extractor stays put (and then falls off when you turn the extractor off). Perhaps I need to adjust the timer to keep it on longer once the light goes off

Painting the ceiling above a shower cubical

I replastered the ceiling above my shower cubical (see picture) and sealed with Zinsser Bulls Eye then gave several coats of Dulux Easy Care Bathroom paint, but after a few months the paint has started flaking off. Is there a more robust waterproof paint that someone can recommend that won’t...
