    toilet cistern tank replacement

Cheers for the replies. Does it even have to be a similar like-for-like? Would any old cistern tank do - is the bit that connects to the toilet universal? The water inlet/overflow don't really matter as those connections could always be redone. Will probably just bite the bullet and go for...

    toilet cistern tank replacement

Does anyone know where I could source a replacement cistern tank? Ours has a crack in the porcelain and is leaking, and I was hoping I could find a like-for-like replacement but there's no make/manufacturer on mine that I can see. Was hoping to find somewhere with a website with measurements...

    hot water route from boiler

The hot water cylinder was removed and the pipe that connected it to the bathroom was capped as close to the bathroom as possible - there's a "dead leg" about 2 feet long, that can't yet be removed till I next go under the bathroom floor.

    hot water route from boiler

Cheers. The reason this wasn't done at installation was simply due to the bathroom having a tiled floor and not really wanting to go to the trouble of going under it to get at the existing pipes - there was a suitable hot water pipe to connect to in the garage so it saved a lot of work. But a...

Hot Water pressure/flow rate very low

You can check the flow rate yourself from the hot taps - just get a 10litre bucket and time how long it takes to fill.

    hot water route from boiler

Sorry - forgot the actual point of my question... I know I could tee off and feed a standalone tap, it's no different than the kitchen tap coming off the pipes just earlier, but if I was to connect it into the bathroom hot water pipes (so it could feed the bath as well), this creates a circuit...

    hot water route from boiler

We had a combi boiler fitted in December 2017. I'm happy with it so far, except for one thing - the length of time it takes hot water to reach the bathroom. We only have 3 hot water taps in the house: kitchen, bathroom basin and bath. ( Shower is electric and runs off cold). Also had a hot...

Top s-piece of soil pipe vent fell off

Just noticed on the streetview image from 5 doors down, you can actually see the bit of soil pipe that fell off still on the garage roof ... So when the regulations say within 3m of a window, is that on the same wall face or does the bathroom window on the front count?

Top s-piece of soil pipe vent fell off

The bath/sink waste don't go into the soil pipe, they go into a hopper inside the garage and then down into a drain several feet from where the soil pipe goes underground. The only thing entering this pipe is the toilet. But I will keep an eye on it next time a hot bath is being drained - most...

Top s-piece of soil pipe vent fell off

It's a good job it didn't hit anyone, I could hardly lift the piece that fell off it was that heavy.

Top s-piece of soil pipe vent fell off

Here's a house 5 doors down... That was from a streetview image 10 years ago, and it's still like that today, so I guess I don't need to worry. I counted at least 10 other houses like this, so I guess snapping at that joint is a common problem 50 years on...

    It's asbestos cement.

Top s-piece of soil pipe vent fell off

Not sure of the correct terminology, but yesterday this piece circled fell off.. I presume it bends around the gutter so that any toilet-related fumes go up into the air and not under the roof into the attic. How urgent of a problem is this, or is it not even a problem at all - I had a walk...

    Gravity Hot Water circulation

That's from the manual. When it was set to FULLY PUMPED, the hot water wasn't coming out of the gravity hot water flow pipe and instead the return pipes were getting hot for a few inches. But unless you've actually changed a part, then it wouldn't just happen out of the blue I guess..
