Electric heated towel rail BTU rating vs CH heated rating

thanks but my question is .. a rad will have a given BTU/wattage rating if run on a CH system at eg 160deg F. So if the same rad is heated by an element, either 300w or 600w, will the rad give the same heat output at a safe surface temperature ?

Electric heated towel rail BTU rating vs CH heated rating

A friend is having an electric element heated ladder style chrome towel rail fitted in a bathroom ( by and electrician). This will be the only source of heating in the room. I have always had CH heated rads so wonder how the quoted BTU rating of a given sized rad varies up or down if heated by...

thanks for prompt reply. The pump was changed by BGas when they did the boiler, but valves are original. The only problem I had after was the rattling of something going round system .. mentioned to engineer who wasn't interested, so I cancelled the annual contract seeing as boiler was under...

Air in hot water side of CH system after drain down

I have a bungalow with conventional CH system, with wall mounted gas boiler ( 3 yrs old ), but all other original plumbing from build.. approx. 1985. BGas fitted new boiler some 3 yrs ago, with no circulation problems after. The hot water cylinder is the original 36x18 insulated copper, fed by...

Creda 950 DL Electric Shower Overheating

update. Spoke to Creda help desk.. who weren't. They say the shower is not designed to have a phased shutdown and I must have low water pressure. I can't believe any shower would stop immediately without overheating. Their only other helpful comment was to do what I was doing and switch to...

Creda 950 DL Electric Shower Overheating

I have just replaced an old Triton Opal 9.5kw shower which kept going cold after use... it didn't have an overheat indicator. As it was at least 6yrs old I decided to replace it and chose a Creda 950 DL from Argos. It seemed to have the basic requirement of a proper start/stop button and...

Protecting wooden handrail for outside use

Hi, I have had no replies to my posts in Woodwork or Gardening, so will try here. I need to protect a steep drop on a patio area over some concrete steps by creating a 12' handrail or silmilar .. or maybe a full decking type assembly, but thats going to be expensive. I have seen an internal...

Handrail suitable for outside patio area

Hi, I need to provide a secure handrail for a patio type area near the front door with steep concrete steps to one side, to prevent anyone going over the top and down onto the steps. Unfortunately the current brick retaining wall is only 20" high at the top end and zero the other end, as the...

IMMERSION HEATER PLUG REMOVAL TIPS PLSE

OK guys, your replies came in while I was typing..... I get the picture now. I shall try the heat treatment, but with respect, I think I won't attempt to cut it with the possible problems should it go wrong, leaving me with no tank at all. Thanks again :)

IMMERSION HEATER PLUG REMOVAL TIPS PLSE

Thanks James, Ok, I did wonder how this ancient plumber might have sealed this plug. To be honest, I am looking to replace my equally ancient boiler which suddenly died last week, then lived again just as I called in BGas.. but I have no alternate hot water heater.. hence the need to fit an...
