I have almost an identical situation as the OP. However my system has nothing in connector 3, but two wires in connector 5.
I assume this is both CH and HW off merged into one.
So, I wired it up using the FP715 wiring conversion chart as supplied, and put both wires into connector...

I have an immersion tank that our how water is stored in, would that be gravity...
Ha! Looks easy enough, although knowing my luck I'll take the cover off and a plate of spaghetti with a few crusty old spiders will fall out.
I will have a look for a digital timer and see if I can find one that is simple enough to fit.

I am not entirely sure what you mean.
The current timer controls both HW and CH.
The problem is that the dial is not spinning hence our heating and water is on full time.
I want to replace the timer with a more modern one, perhaps with progammable times for each day.
