do i need to buy an expensive underlay to have the best soundproof underlay, for carpet?
I would like it to be cheap to fit. I have very high ceilings so thickness is not a worry, as long as people can still walk through the door frame without bumping a head.

Nope. No such flag or switch. No switches on it at all.
I'm still none the wiser about how to quieten the buzz. I guess that would be the best outcome.
under the kitchen sink is an almost horizontal waste pipe for the sink and washing machine.
only trouble is, it slightly slants back, (not down, towards the outflow). So water is collecting in the pipe under the sink. It's not a huge slant - you can only tell if you look carefully.

i would like to replace it with something that makes a tune (rather than the loud, crude buzz). people cause my flat to vibrate, especially delivery people, by buzzing agressively!

I take great care NOT to get it WET but the lady i live with is less careful and often splashes water.
should i be very concerned about the floor lasting long term? she knows water would damage it but probably doesn't notice splashes.
