I take great care NOT to get it WET but the lady i live with is less careful and often splashes water.

should i be very concerned about the floor lasting long term? she knows water would damage it but probably doesn't notice splashes.

It was installed new this month. I don't want something hard like tiles because it hurts my varicose veins/ blood flow, to walk on.

We're looking at wood, as warmer than tiles.
It should say if suitable, so look at pack, ring place you got it.
The ones we're looking at, engineered oak are stated as suitable for damp areas.
If you're worried look at treatments and finishes you can add.

If it has a suitable bond, then it isnt much to worry about.

Too much wetting, and you will have issues of expansion or staining, a bit of splashing should be fine.

Best to go Amtico , karmdean polyflir type flooring.
Looks realistic and can get wet
